Leadership

Local leaders are the backbone to community development. The six communities we visited with Rural Partners- Troy, Choteau, Lincoln, Glendive, Glasgow, and Harlowton- all had local leaders, whether local officials, nonprofit organizations, volunteer community groups, or citizens, who are stepping up to make projects happen and to help make their communities better. There are many other communities across our state where leaders are stepping up to make their communities a better place to live, work, and play.

Local leadership is the foundation to economic and community development, and increasing and strengthening local leadership capacity is critical to the vitality of Montana’s small towns. We are working with state-wide partners on efforts to support and increase local leadership capacity.
