Project grants fund projects that will repair, reclaim, and mitigate environmental damage to public resources from non-renewable resource extraction. Grant funds can also support crucial state need projects that serve the public interest and total environment of the citizens of Montana by developing and ensuring the quality of public resources for the benefit of all Montanans.

Maximum Award Amount
DNRC will recommend no more than $300,000 for most projects. DNRC may recommend up to $500,000 for a project if the applicant has clearly demonstrated multiple natural resource benefits , the need and urgency of the project, and the financial need and unavailability of other funds to complete the project.
Any department, agency, board, commission, or other division of state government, city, county, or other division of local government, or tribal government within the state of Montana may apply.
